The Microplastics Problem

Ethan Edson is an inventor.

He cares about the earth's oceans and keeping them free of plastic pollution. As a research engineer and recent graduate of Northeastern University, Edson has his sights set on "microplastics" or tiny pieces of plastic smaller then a dime. In order to bring attention to the problem of this type of pollution, he needs the data. He built an autonomous device that measures the amount of plastics in the ocean without having to use a research vessel with a full crew.

This video was produced for a Northeastern University sponsored fundraiser for his research and the commercializing of his device. Cinematography by Frank Hegyi.
