Why work with me?

I’ve been a video journalist for past ten years working in newsrooms and academia. I know what media outlets are looking for when they search for experts to comment on a story and I know what young audiences are looking for in their content creators. My biggest success came at Harvard Business Review, where I helped bring expertise to a growing audience in a way that sparked engagement on YouTube. So often an expert had the best research and insight, but didn’t have the means to bring it to the public in a way that fostered learning or engagement. That’s where I came in. Your video should be presenting questions or problems, showing empathy to the topic, and providing answering that keep people thinking, learning, and tuned in. And most importantly, I know how to make video content a part of your brand strategy without causing burnout.

Ok, so literally what do I get?

End-to-end production includes:

  • The video script

    • I’ll take your research and talking points and turn it into a script for an 8-12 minute video. We’ll go through a few feedback rounds so your voice is authentically in the writing. Basically, I’ll write 80% of the script, and you’ll provide 20% in revisions and making sure the facts and insights are accurate and backed up. By the end of this process, you’ll have a pretty clear vision for what your video will be.

  • The video production

    • I’ll provide the actual video recording in-person. I’ll provide direction and feedback and make sure you’re comfortable in your voice and bringing a performance that is authentic. This is where you do the heavy lifting, but I’ll be there to support you through every word and improvisation. I’ll technically make the video, but in the end, you bring it to life!

  • The video editing

    • I'll take all the things we make and edit what will be the final video. We’ll go through a few rounds of editing where you’ll provide feedback and suggestions. I have my own voice as a video editor, and it’s my job to blend it with yours.

  • The final video assets

    • You’ll get one 8-12minute video specifically for YouTube, 3 short form clips for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn. You’ll also get 3 YouTube thumbnails and all text copy for the YouTube descriptions.

  • A publish plan

    • Crucial to the success and life of your video is a promoting it. The first 24 hours of a video’s life on YouTube is the most important. I’ll provide guidance on how to optimize this time, direction for making engaging video clips to promote it (native video for each platform), and templates for re-promoting it in the future.

How long does all that take?

It certainly depends on the material, but my best estimate would be about a month to get from the project kick-off to the first video publish.
